Accommodation

Homestay
Homestay accommodation gives students an opportunity to stay with an Australian family in a private furnished bedroom, help them to improve their English skills and have an authentic cultural experience. The families are carefully selected by Global Experience, Curtin University Sydney’s Homestay provider. Accommodation usually is available throughout Sydney and located in near to public transport. Students may specify a preferred location, however not all requests can be met. The university recommend keeping an open mind and being flexible, as students experience with the homestay family will almost certainly be a rewarding one, wherever the location is.

UniLodge
UniLodge Sydney provides fully furnished apartments for students in close walking distance to Curtin University Sydney on Broadway. There is also a second lodge in Kensington which is about 20 minutes away from campus by bus. This accommodation options include self-contained, furnished studios and loft apartments which have bathrooms and kitchenettes and are purpose-built for student needs. There are some services and facilities offered at UniLodge that include:

  • on site residential staff
  • regular social events
  • a safe living and learning environment with 24 hour management/security
  • internet access from all rooms
  • a swimming pool and spa
  • student lounges
  • a rooftop BBQ area
  • common kitchen areas
  • laundry facilities
  • UniLodge, Kensington also provides accommodation for students under the age of 18 years.

The fee of staying at UniLodge can be as low as AU$309 per week for a small studio to as high as AU$564 per week for a large, twin share apartment. Airport pick-up services are also available with a shuttle bus running from the Sydney International/ Domestic airport to the Sydney Central Business District.

Private Rental Accommodation
Private rental accommodation includes self-catering apartments or flat/house-sharing with other residents for the students to choose from. It is the most common type of accommodation among students as it is both affordable and a great way to meet new people. Private rental accommodation is available all across the city and all suburban areas. This type of accommodation can be accessible by public transport with travelling times ranging from 10 minutes to one hour from campus.

Short Term Accommodation
Students can make a short-term booking (1-3 weeks) at a hostel or hotel if they did not make any other accommodation arrangement upon arriving. This accommodation will provide students with a place to live during their first days in Sydney while they look for other types of accommodation at the same time. The Leisure Inn hotel is located across the Curtin Sydney campus and offers affordable short-term accommodation from $89 per night.

Campus

Bentley
The suburb of Bentley is located about six kilometres south-east of central Perth and the campus is the home to Curtin's main campus. In close distance to everything Perth has to offer, it boasts many bold architecture nestled amongst beautiful landscaped gardens. With thousands of students filling the campus grounds every day of the semester, there is a good vibe to the place.

Perth city
Perth city campus is located in a refurbished 1894 building in the heart of the central business district and the campus is home to the Graduate School of Business (GSB). The location of the campus provides easy access for students and allows them to have close engagement with the business sector.

Kalgoorlie
Kalgoorlie is located at an historic mining town in the goldfields region of Western Australia, about 600km east of Perth. The town was established in 1893 when gold was first discovered there. And today, it remains as an important centre for the state's booming resources industry.

Margaret River
The town of Margaret River is about 280km south of Perth which make it as one of the country's premier grape growing regions. Speckled with wineries and featuring sublime limestone caves and world-renowned surf breaks, it's also one of the state's most popular tourist regions. The campus is part of collaboration with South West Regional College of TAFE, Edith Cowan University, Margaret River Senior High School and the Department of Education and Training.

Shenton Park
Shenton Park is the university’s health research campus located in the west of Perth. Adjacent to Royal Perth Hospital, Lemnos Hospital and Graylands Hospital, the location is ideally located to work closely with the health industry. The university’s research institutes operating from the campus are:

  • The Western Australian Biosecurity Centre
  • The Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer Control
  • The Western Australian Centre for Cancer and Palliative Care
  • The National Drug Research Institute

The location for each campus is easily accessible with various transportations. There are free bus services, taxi ranks, bike, and even walking. The bus station at the Bentley campus is one of the busiest in Perth, with seven different services stopping frequently during semester. The circle route, which runs between Perth's universities, train stations and shopping centres, stops every 15 minutes between 6:30 am and 6:00 pm during weekdays. Also, some buses connect with train services that run to the outer metropolitan area.
