About National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA)
The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) is Australia’s leading centre for education and training in the performing arts. Our team of educators is made up of seasoned professionals with proven expertise across the full range of dramatic disciplines including acting, writing, staging, movement, voice, costume and production design.
Under the guidance of NIDA tutors, and the leadership of the board of directors and academic board, NIDA has grown to become a world leader, with a highly-regarded program of higher education courses, open short courses, school-holiday programs and corporate training.

Accommodation
NIDA does not have on-campus accommodation for students. NIDA has a close relationship with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) which is located opposite NIDA. UNSW offers a range of housing options which NIDA students can access.
Campus
NIDA’s advanced technical facilities are an essential part of our internationally renowned education and training. Our award-winning building houses the Graduate School, NIDA Theatres, Reg Grundy Studio, contemporary sound and lighting studios and sophisticated workshop spaces.
The NIDA Theatres complex includes five theatres, all of which cater to the different technical and artistic demands of productions and audiences.
The Reg Grundy Studio is the hub of NIDA’s Screen program and provides a multi-camera environment, fully-flexible lighting arrays and professional sets, matching industry-standard environments.
NIDA also has numerous rehearsal rooms, teaching spaces, workshop spaces dedicated to scenery, properties and costume creation, as well as multi-media and CAD studios.
The Rodney Seaborn Library, also based in the NIDA Theatres complex, is one of Australia’s leading performing arts-focused libraries.
