Bachelor of Chemical Engineering

About

Chemical Engineering (ChE) utilises scientific ideas from chemistry, physics, and engineering to convert raw materials into useful products. ChE involves designing and operating chemical processing plants that are efficient and sustainable, considering factors such as techno-economic viability, operability, safety, risk analysis, and material conversion/recovery.
Chemical engineers are in high demand across several industries, including chemicals, polymers, oil and gas, food processing, waste and water treatment, and pulp and paper. Chemical engineers are widely sought after in industries such as electronics, semiconductors, consumer items, power generation, education, and insurance. ChE's emerging topics include green chemistry, biotechnology, renewable energy, innovative materials, nanotechnology, and the circular economy.
Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM)'s ChE program is certified by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Malaysia and offers a complete learning environment with an emphasis on excellent teaching and research. The curriculum offers cutting-edge chemical engineering laboratories and a Simulation Integrated Process Plant (SIPP). The SIPP is Malaysia's first teaching-focused simulated process plant, providing specialised training for chemical engineering students in process safety, control and instrumentation.

The ChE program combines AI, IR 4.0, and sustainable practices within its curriculum. The program is supported by a team of highly qualified experts in chemical engineering research, including green and sustainable materials, process modelling and simulation, artificial intelligence, nanomaterials, membranes, and bioproduct development.
