The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at Xiamen University was established in 1956. Over its 60-plus years of operation, it has trained over 20,000 exceptional TCM practitioners from 50 nations and regions, contributing significantly to the development of TCM in China and Southeast Asia. The Department of TCM is part of Xiamen University's School of Medicine, which has a strong faculty team of 1,023 staff members, including clinical preceptors.
The School of Medicine has 11 affiliated hospitals designated as tertiary Class A (China's highest hospital grade) and five teaching hospitals, indicating strong clinical capabilities. Over 50 teaching and research institutions have been established, including the Straits (Xiamen) TCM Science and Technology Platform, the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Centre for Medicine, the National Clinical Teaching and Training Demonstration Centre, and the National Research Institute for Health Big Data.
The School of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Xiamen University Malaysia collaborates with the Department of TCM on the main campus to promote the internationalisation of TCM disciplines. The program aims to develop future leaders with high professional ethics, strong theoretical underpinnings, remarkable clinical skills, research capabilities, and a global perspective. The TCM discipline includes a strong faculty team, including one National (China) Young Qihuang Scholar, four National (China) Outstanding TCM Talents, and one staff member ranked in the top 2% of scientists by Stanford University. The school has created a TCM centre, herbal processing lab, Chinese herbal garden, and over 30 teaching and clinical internship bases with unique TCM characteristics and excellent teaching conditions. The discipline's research interests include TCM studies in Fujian and Taiwan, tongue diagnosis, dampness diseases, liver disorders, and global health.

Entry Requirements
Any of These:
- STPM (Science Stream): A pass in STPM with at least a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 AND a Grade C (GP 2.0) in any 2 Science subjects.
- STPM (Non-Science Stream): A pass in STPM with at least a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 AND a Grade C (GP 2.0) in any 2 subjects, AND credit in any 2 Science subjects and Mathematics in SPM or equivalent.
- A-LEVEL: A pass in A-Level with at least a Grade C in any 2 Science subjects.
- UEC: A pass in UEC with at least a Grade B in 5 subjects, including 2 Science subjects.
- Foundation/Matriculation/Program Asasi: A pass in Foundation/Matriculation with at least a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 AND passes in 2 Science subjects and Mathematics at SPM level.
- Diploma:
- A pass in Diploma with at least a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 from Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field OR
- A pass in Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine from recognised institutions or the equivalent with at least a CGPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 and with at least 2 years of relevant working experience OR
- A pass in Diploma from institutions recognised by the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Board with at least a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0.
- Bachelor’s Degree: A pass in a Bachelor’s degree with at least a CGPA of 2.5 in any discipline from institutions of higher learning.
