About

APU's Bachelor in Interactive Media and Immersive Technology (Honours) with a specialism in VR/AR degree is designed to give you an advantage in the latest technologies associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. APU's plan is meant to accommodate to a wide range of technologies, including VR, AR, Mixed Reality (MR), and Extended Reality (XR). In 2020, APU developed Malaysia's first XR (Meta) Studio among universities in partnership with our business partner, Ministry XR.

This program is designed to equip students with:

  • A deeper understanding of multimedia concepts, principles, and technologies.
  • The skills necessary to pursue careers in the multimedia industry as authors, animators, or modelers.
  • The ability to create 3D models, animations, digital music, videos, and other creative assets.

Application & Student Visa Fees

STAGE 1 (Payable upon acceptance of offer) RM 2,650 (approx. USD 620)* is payable when you have accepted the offer. This fee includes Visa Processing Fees by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and APU/APIIT Application & Processing Fees. This also entitles you to airport assistance and transfer to the University/accommodation upon first arrival in Malaysia. Please note that this Fee is non-refundable once the offer has been accepted. STAGE 2 (Payable upon Student Pass Visa Approval) RM 1,500 (approx. USD 350)* is payable once your Student Pass is approved. This fee includes the post-arrival processing fee, EMGS medical check-up in Malaysia, Medical Insurance for a year, i-Kad (International Student Card issued by Immigration Malaysia) charged to ALL International students in Malaysia, Electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVal), and the Student Pass Fees for one-year. The i-Kad issued by Immigration Malaysia will enable students to avoid having to carry their passports around for identification purposes and will be tied to their Student Pass Validity and will be re-issued at visa renewal. Please note that this Fee is non-refundable once the Student Pass Visa Approval Letter (VAL) has been issued by EMGS.

Entry Requirements

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

DIRECT ENTRY TO LEVEL 1 OF THE DEGREE:
STPM

• 2 Passes in STPM with minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) in any subject with a Pass in Mathematics at SPM.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.

*Strong Mathematics would be an added advantage.

A-LEVEL
Overseas qualification that are equivalent to 12th Grade/A Level/HSC are accepted.

• 2 Passes in A-Level and with a Pass in Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or equivalent.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.

*Strong Mathematics would be an added advantage.

UEC

• 5 Grade B Passes in UEC in any subjects including a Pass in Mathematics.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.

*Strong Mathematics would be an added advantage.

FOUNDATION/
MATRICULATION  

• A pass in Matriculation or Foundation studies with minimum CGPA of 2.0 with a Pass in Mathematics at SPM/IGCSE/O-Level or its equivalent.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.

DIRECT ENTRY TO LEVEL 2 OF THE DEGREE:
ICT RELATED DIPLOMAS

• Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 and a Pass in Mathematics at SPM/IGCSE/O-Level or its equivalent.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.
 

Any qualification that APU accepts as equivalent to the above.

Note: The above entry requirements may differ for specific programmes based on the latest programme standards published by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). The qualification and entry requirements for the programmes will be determined based on the "Comparison List of Equivalency of International Qualifications with SPM (O-Levels equivalent) and STPM (A-Levels equivalent)" published by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
