Intakes

Entry Requirements

  • Master Degree preferably with experience in the related field accepted by the university's graduate admission committee.
  • Equivalent level of studies from a recognized tertiary institution may also be considered for admission.
  • Prospective students with research proficiency and ability to show publications in referred journals, conference abstracts will have an added advantage.

English Language Requirements

  • TOEFL score of 575
  • IELTS 6.5
  • Equivalent score of any of the above obtained at undergraduate level at a recognised university

Start of Candidature

  • Complete all required modules

    • At first opportunity in Year 1
    • Must pass research methodology module
  • Proposal Defence (PD)

    • Within the first 12 months
    • Within the first 9 months, research colloquium to present before a panel
    • Gather feedback on research proposal
    • Submit a detailed proposal document
    • Presentation to the examination panel
  • Progress Monitoring / Mid-Candidature Defence

    • Every 6 months until thesis submission (May & November)
    • Progress reporting and presentation on progress
    • Evaluated by a panel

 

End of Candidature

  • Work Completion Defence (WCD)

    • 6 months before the minimum candidature period
    • Submit draft thesis
    • Presentation of completed work
  • Submit Thesis for Examination

    • Before the maximum candidature period
    • Comb-bound thesis copies submitted for examination
  • Viva Voce

    • Upon receipt of all examiners’ reports
    • Presentation of completed work to the Examination Board
  • Award of Degree

    • PhD
