Curriculum
Aerospace (Aeronautical) Engineering
In the realm of engineering, the term "aeronautical engineering" was initially used, but with the advancement of flight technology to include spacecraft operating in outer space, the broader term "aerospace" has taken precedence in usage. Colloquially, engineering with a focus on astronautics is often referred to as "rocket science." This field of engineering also delves into the study of aerodynamic characteristics, behaviors, airfoil design, control surfaces, lift, drag, and other pertinent properties associated with these vehicles.
Applied Science
Applied science involves the precise application of knowledge derived from one or more natural scientific fields to address real-world problems. It plays a crucial role in the development of technology and advances in research. Pursuing a study in applied science will equip you with the necessary skills for direct entry into exciting and fulfilling science careers. Additionally, it provides a strong foundation for professional schools such as chiropractic, dental, medical, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, veterinary, as well as graduate schools.
Chemical / Petroleum Engineering
In the field of petroleum engineering, you will focus on the search, production, and extraction of crude oil and natural gas from the Earth. Through your studies, you will learn how to responsibly produce petroleum resources while prioritizing environmental safety. You will develop skills in scouting potential drilling sites and supervising drilling activities. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to apply and invent groundbreaking technologies and methods to enhance and streamline the systematic process of petroleum recovery.
Civil Engineering
This field of study focuses on the design, construction, and maintenance of physical and natural built environments. Civil engineering encompasses various sub-disciplines that specialize in different aspects of the built environment. These sub-disciplines include environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transport engineering, urban engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, coastal engineering, surveying, and construction engineering.
Electrical / Electronic Engineering
his discipline focuses on the study of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. As an electrical engineering student, you will delve into various subjects related to power systems, electronics, control systems, signal processing, and telecommunication. Electrical engineering primarily deals with large-scale electrical systems, such as power transmission and distribution, ensuring efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. On the other hand, electronic engineering focuses on smaller-scale electronic systems, such as computers, integrated circuits, and electronic devices.
Mechanical Engineering
As a mechanical engineering student, you will explore the fascinating world of heat and mechanical power production and utilization. Throughout your studies, you will undertake subjects that cover various aspects of mechanical engineering. These include mechanics, which focuses on the behavior of bodies under different forces; kinematics, which studies the motion of objects; robotics, which deals with the design and operation of robots; structural analysis, which examines the behavior and strength of structures; thermodynamics, which explores the transfer of heat and energy; thermo-science, which covers topics related to heat transfer and fluid mechanics; and drafting, which involves creating detailed technical drawings.
