Our Halls of Residence

The University owns and manages two purpose-built Halls of Residence, Orlando Village and The Hollins, which provide 700 single study bedrooms. Each bedroom is furnished in modern style and contains carpet, curtains, bed, bedside drawers, wardrobe, desk, bookshelves, easy chair, washbasin and mirror.

Halls places are offered on a self-catering basis which gives you the freedom to shop and cook as you wish. Both Halls are close to all the amenities of the town centre and are convenient for both road and rail links.  There are facilities for disabled students, laundries and extensive free parking at each hall.

Our own staff are available throughout the day and evening to give information and advice on domestic matters. In addition there is a 24 hour security patrol service.

For the past six years we have been able to accommodate all first year students that submitted an application before August. We are also able to offer Halls places to many continuing students giving them an opportunity to return if their previous record of rent payments and conduct have been satisfactory.

The variety of the residents in Halls, in age, background and nationality reflects the diversity of the student population within the University.

Orlando Village consists of 383 single study bedrooms and is conveniently situated for both the University and the town centre. It has eight blocks, each containing eight six-bedroom flats. Orlando has a common room available for students to use.

The Hollins consists of 317 single study bedrooms in three accommodation blocks. Two blocks have eighteen flats and the smallest contains six. There are between six and nine bedrooms per flat.

Campus

In recent years the University has had a major redevelopment programme creating new and exciting facilities for study and recreation. In early 2012 we opened a £100,000 moot Law Court and  Bolton One , our new, purpose-built, £31 million health, leisure and research centre, in partnership with NHS Bolton and Bolton Council.

It is home to premier teaching and research activity, including flagship health and sports courses and services which are open to everyone. These include an  Athlete Development Centre,  Sports and Spinal Injury Clinic,  climbing wall, Centre for Research and Health and Wellbeing, and a Clinical Simulation suite.

Close to the cities of Liverpool and Manchester, with their internationally renowned cultural, sporting and retail centres, Bolton also puts entertainment and shopping right on your doorstep.
