Curriculum

Four themes run throughout the three-year course: design, theory and research, development and production. The aim is to give you a thorough grounding in digital design.

In year one, you’ll study design processes and methods such as prototyping, how to generate ideas and how to research. Then, in your second year, you’ll begin to examine interactive design, non-linear design, infographics and graphic design.

You’ll also develop a research thesis in the area of ‘user experience’ design, and in your third year, you’ll undertake a major project to support your findings.

For example, one of our students studied whether location-based media could enhance the experience of being a tourist in London. She then created a brilliant app which did just that, offering the phone user videos and interactive information as they wandered between the city’s landmarks.

Last year, a group of our students worked together to create an inventive social app based on fashion, helping people choose what they should wear at any particular event.
