Entry Requirements
- A Level: Must include passes at A2 in at least one subject.
- BTEC: Extended Diploma (QCF) or Diploma (QCF)
- International Baccalaureate: Diploma with 26 points including a minimum of 15 points at Higher Level.
- Other equivalent qualifications accepted by the university.
Note: We would normally expect you to have Grade C in GCSE English and Maths (See below for accepted equivalences)
English Language Requirements:
- Overall IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in Writing and Speaking; minimum 5.5 in Reading and Listening (or recognised equivalent).
Curriculum
This course will give you a comprehensive understanding of the law and its place in the criminal justice system. In the first two years you’ll build firm foundations by studying the fundamentals of the law, taking modules that include the Legal System and Legal Methods, and Constitutional and Administrative Law.
As you progress into your second and final years, you’ll study aspects of civil and criminal law, along with modules in Human Rights and European Union Law.
To sharpen your thinking and analytical skills, you’ll take the Thinking Sociologically module in year one and then choose from eight fascinating modules over years two and three.
Your choices include ‘Social Theory: Classical and Contemporary Approaches’ in year two and ‘Critical Approaches to Class’, and ‘Nationalism in a Global Era’ in year three.
