Curriculum

Industry, commerce and public services require organisational structures to support their business functions. During this course you will gain a detailed insight into the information needs of organisations and how these needs can be met through the development or acquisition of business applications and the technology required to implement and operate them.

You will examine the impact of information systems on individuals, organisations and wider society. You will learn how to analyse the concepts of organisational change, justification, evaluation and change management, and how these methods impact on an organisation.

The development of information systems and their implementation in business presents the need for consultancy knowledge and skills. These centre on the ability to analyse business situations and problems, develop enterprising solutions, then ‘sell’ them effectively within the organisation.

You will be given the opportunity to develop your consultancy skills and to practice these in a supportive learning environment.

You will be offered the opportunity to undertake a placement year, where you gain invaluable experience in the workplace, before returning to complete your final year. Many students have found this to be a real asset when it comes to finding a job after graduation.
